Brussels Repeater – On Air
03-03- 2018 WE9COM Brussels 146.805 (146.2) is now on the air and available for
amateur use. This announcement came today after months of planning, installation and
testing. The Kewaunee ARES/RACES group (147.270) notified WeComm today that
their local testing has been completed and have relinquished the (146.805) frequency
for WeComm use.
The WE9COM Brussels repeater is positioned in Door County by consent and approval
of the Door County Emergency Management office. The wide-coverage system includes
Door, Brown, Kewaunee, and portions of Marinette, Oconto, Menominee, Shawano,
Waupaca, Outagamie and Manitowoc counties.
The new system utilizes a Motorola MTR-3000 running a transmit power of 100 watts to
a Comprod 872F-70 antenna mounted at 190’ (base 840’). As with all WeComm
systems, the controller is a CAT-250 and the IP interface is a JPS ARA-1. The system
includes emergency backup power utilizing both batteries and an on-site generator.
